"Whoops, Something Went Wrong!"

At some point you may encounter an error message “Whoops, something went wrong!”, which can be caused by a number of things. The number one cause of this error message is that you have added a new field(s) to your list on Mailchimp, but not added the same field(s) to the Form Builder in Easy Forms for Mailchimp. Each time you add a new field to your forms, you’ll want to remember to add it to the form builder, especially if the field is set to ‘required’.

Debugging the Response

To help decipher exactly what’s going on, you can enable ‘Debugging’ on the ‘Debug Settings‘ page. Once you enable ‘Debugging’, you’ll want to attempt to re-submit the form on the front end of your site.

The error response should now display a more user friendly response, letting you know exactly what’s going wrong:

You’ll notice in the screenshot above, the error response is “‘Birthday’ must be provided – Please enter a value.“, but there isn’t actually a Birthday field displaying in the form. All we need to do, is head back into edit the form and add our ‘Birthday’ field to the form builder. After that is complete, we should have no issues submitting the forms once again.
